Summer Reading Club
At the University Park Public Library
May 27th - July 29th
Kick-Off Party:
Saturday, May 27th, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
General Information:
Thank you for your interest in our summer reading club! We hope to encourage
fun summer reading for all children from toddlers all the way through high school.
Participants may read any books, magazines or newspapers from home or any
library. Participants may be read to or they may read alone. Hours spent reading
for any other program may also be used for ours.
Sign Up:
Sign up will begin at the library on Saturday, May 27th and continue throughout June and July.
Reading Logs:
Participants may begin turning in their reading logs the Tuesday after the Kick-Off
party. Each log will have five “books” to color representing five hours of reading.
Reading logs may be downloaded from our web site (www.uplibrary.org) or
picked up at the library. Participants may also make their own log as long as each
sheet provides for five hours of reading.
When the reader completes one log it may be placed in the “baseball” container in
the library and then one coupon may be picked from the “soccer” container. There
is no limit to how many reading logs may be turned in. All participation rests upon
the honor system and sportsmanlike conduct. **All logs must be turned in by
Wednesday, July 26th.
Reading Certificates and Gold Coins:
When the reader has completed 10 hours (or two logs) of reading they may come
to the front desk to pick up a State of Texas reading certificate and a gold coin
coupon that may be redeemed down the hall at Chase Bank. Thank you, Chase
Bank, for supporting us!
Prizes:
Local area businesses are providing us with coupons and prizes for the summer
program. Please thank those businesses when you have the opportunity! For each
completed log, one folded coupon may be picked out of the prize container.
Additional prizes will be handed out at the July party to those who attend.
End of Summer Reading Club Party:
Saturday July 29th, 11 am - 1:00 pm
Please join us as we announce top readers and hand out prizes (randomly drawn) to
those attending. We will have entertainment, treats and festivity for the whole
family!
