The Friends hold 4 book sales each year- the first Saturday in March, June, September, and December, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., in the area just outside of the library entrance. See the Calendar for dates.
Volunteers are needed to help set up the tables and materials on the Friday, preceding the sale, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., and to assist during the Saturday of the book sale, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. To volunteer to help during set-up, or at the event, please call the library at 215-363-9095, during library hours, and leave a message for our Book Sale Coordinator.
Books and materials at the sale are items which have been donated and which are either:
- duplicates of items already in the collection
- items we are unable to accommodate due to lack of space such as magazines, newspapers, periodicals
- items not appropriate for circulation, such as workbooks, puzzle books, journals, coloring books, phonograph records
- items which are not the most current editions
- items which have been withdrawn from the library shelves for similar reasons
A written Material Donations Policy is available at the library circulation desk, or by clicking here.
At the sales, books are available for a suggested donation of $2.00 each for most hard covers, and .50 each for most paperbacks. Audio books, video tapes, rare editions, and special collection items are individually marked with suggested donation amounts. Often, beautiful sets of books are available for very modest donations.
We will provide 30 minutes of free parking in the Bank Lot, west of the building, so be sure to get us to stamp your parking receipt. Call 214-363-9095 for more info.
An email list, and a postcard list are maintained for reminder notices of upcoming sales. To be included on one of these lists, click here or sign up at the next book sale event.
Looking forward to seeing you at the next Friends of the Library book sale at the University Park Public Library!
